Google Ads Monthly Budget Tracker

Managing Google Ads spend across multiple campaigns without a budget tracker leads to overspend surprises or underutilised budgets — both of which affect results and client relationships.

This spreadsheet gives you a monthly view of planned versus actual spend by campaign, with daily pacing calculations that show whether you're on track to hit or miss your monthly target. It's designed for accounts with 2–20 campaigns and works for single-client or multi-client setups.

The main tab has a campaign-level input section where you enter the monthly budget allocation per campaign. A daily spend log connects to a pacing formula that updates automatically when you paste in your daily spend data from the Google Ads interface or a scheduled report. The forecast column projects month-end spend based on current burn rate.

A secondary tab tracks performance alongside spend — CPC, conversions, CPA, and ROAS — so you can see whether a campaign is worth its budget, not just whether it's on pace.

Useful for freelancers managing client accounts and in-house teams reporting to finance on a monthly basis.

What this tracker is for

Running several Google Ads campaigns without a budget tracker leads to overspending surprises or unused budget, and both affect results and relationships with clients or finance. The Google Ads Monthly Budget Tracker is an Excel spreadsheet that shows planned against actual spend by campaign, with daily pacing so you can see in time whether a month is going to land on target.

How it is organised

The main tab has a campaign-level input area where you enter the monthly budget allocation for each campaign, with totals calculated automatically.

A daily spend log connects to a pacing formula. When you paste in daily spend from the Google Ads interface or a scheduled report, the pacing updates, and a forecast column projects month-end spend from the current rate. A variance view compares planned and actual by campaign.

A performance tab sits beside the spend data and tracks CPC, conversions, CPA and ROAS, so you can judge whether a campaign earns its budget and not only whether it is on pace. A month-over-month chart compares months.

It is built for accounts with roughly 2 to 20 campaigns and works for single-client or multi-client set-ups.

How to use it

At the start of the month, enter the budget you have agreed for each campaign. Paste in spend daily or weekly from your account. Review the pacing column before any budget change, and look at the performance tab before moving money between campaigns, since an on-pace campaign can still be a poor use of budget. All figures are the ones you enter; the template does not suggest budget amounts.
