What this tool measures
A checklist makes sure the basics are not skipped. This tool lists 30 items across five areas, technical SEO, on-page SEO, content, link building and local SEO, and scores how many you have actually verified.
It measures your completeness against the list, not your rankings. Use it to find the gaps, then use Search Console and a crawler to check each one properly.
How to read each field
- Technical SEO
- Load speed, mobile layout, HTTPS, XML sitemap, robots.txt and broken links. These decide whether search engines can crawl and trust the site.
- On-Page SEO
- Unique titles and descriptions, one H1, image alt text, internal links and clean URLs.
- Content
- Keyword targeting, publishing rhythm, originality, depth, search intent and FAQs on key pages.
- Link Building
- Relevant backlinks, a claimed Google Business Profile, directories, avoiding toxic links, social profile links and PR mentions.
- Local SEO
- Business Profile quality, consistent name, address and phone details, reviews, local keywords, local schema and local directories.
- Score and grade
- The score is the number of ticked items divided by 30. 90% or more reads Excellent, 70% to 89% Good, 50% to 69% Needs Work, and below 50% Critical.
Worked example
A local dental clinic ticks 21 of 30 items, a score of 70% and a grade of Good. Its gaps are in link building and content: no directory listings beyond its own profile and no FAQ on service pages. The unticked items become the to-do list.
A sensible order is to fix anything blocking crawling first, then page-level basics, then content depth, then links. Re-run the checklist after each round so the score reflects work actually completed, not intentions.
Limits to keep in mind
- The score is self-reported. Tick an item only after you have checked it in your own site or a tool.
- Thirty items cannot cover every site. A large e-commerce or multi-language site needs checks this list does not include.
- A higher score does not guarantee higher rankings. It shows fewer known gaps.
Frequently asked questions
How often should I run an SEO audit?
Review the basics quarterly and after any redesign, migration or large content change. Problems introduced by a release are easiest to fix soon after.
Which items matter most?
Anything that blocks crawling or indexing, such as robots.txt rules or missing HTTPS, comes first. Then fix titles, descriptions and content that match what people search for.
Does a score of 100% mean my site will rank?
No. Rankings depend on competition, content quality and many signals outside this list. A full score means none of these 30 known gaps remain.
